Thomas Edison: You know he invented the lightbulb but what about the phonograph and all types of advances in film? Edison was truly the father of modern electrical inventions and we’re constantly using his brainchildren.
George Washington Carver: He invented the cotton gin – oh wait! That was Eli Whitney! Carver was instead a southern chemist who came up with hundreds of uses for pecans, peanuts and various agricultural products, changing the scope of farming for hundreds of years to come.
Benjamin Franklin: Of course you know Ben Franklin invented the lightning rod but what about the electrical stove andbifocals? From health to home he was perhaps the most varied inventor of his day and his mechanical mind has been second to none since his death in 1790.

How Technology Advanced From the Year 1900-1945

Between the years 1900 and 1945 there were some advances in technology. In the year 1900, Thomas Edison invented the first battery. Also in 1900, the first pay phone was installed in Hartford, Connecticut.

In 1903, the first projection film was released. The movie was called The Great Train Robbery and it was only 10 minutes long.

In 1910, three different companies came together to become C-T-R, (Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company which was the forefather of IBM. One year later, in 1911, AT&T took control of the Western Union Telegraph company.

How Technology Advanced in the 1970′s

The decade of the seventies was an exciting time in the advancement of technology. Not only was the modern era of computing introduced, via the world’s first microprocessor, this was also the age of the pocket calculators. This was the decade when video games came into play. One of the leaders in the field was Atari. They introduced the enormously popular arcade game known as “Pong.”

The 1970′s was also the beginning of Fiber Optics. This was also the first period in which the United States and Europe realized that (more…)

Technology in the 1800’s – in the age of Wyatt Earp? The 1800’s technology was the gateway to technology today.

In 1804 gas lighting was patented. Although gas had been used for lighting for thousands of years, containing it in a single unit was a new conception. Five years later the electric light was invented. Another form of lighting, the miner’s lamp was created in 1815.

1819 brought the invention of the stethoscope, while the electromagnet came to be in 1825.
