How Technology Advanced From the Year 1900-1945
Between the years 1900 and 1945 there were some advances in technology. In the year 1900, Thomas Edison invented the first battery. Also in 1900, the first pay phone was installed in Hartford, Connecticut.
In 1903, the first projection film was released. The movie was called The Great Train Robbery and it was only 10 minutes long.
In 1910, three different companies came together to become C-T-R, (Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company which was the forefather of IBM. One year later, in 1911, AT&T took control of the Western Union Telegraph company.
In the year of 1920, KDKA was presented with the first Radio Broadcasting license. They were located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In 1927, the first trans-Atlantic phone company using radio waves was successful. Two years later, in 1929, the first T.V broadcast was aired. It was a regularly scheduled T.V show which aired three nights a week. June 27th, 1929 was the first colored T.V broadcast.
In 1930, the first quartz clock was invented. Five years later, the first mechanical T.V was invented.
In the year of 1938, the first FM radio broadcast was aired. This radio broadcasting station was located in New Jersey and they came to full power on July 18th, 1939.
The first mobile technology was invented in 1940 but was only available to the police and emergency radios.
In January of 1943, IBM introduced the first electric computer which was capable of addition, multiplication and trig functions. This computer was known as the Harvard Mark I.
Finally, in 1945 the first successful test of the Atomic Bomb occurred in New Mexico. Japan was the first country to explode the Atomic Bomb on August 6th, 1945.
